1 cup besan (gram flour)
¼ cup onion, finely chopped
¼ cup tomato, finely chopped
2 tbsp grated carrot (optional)
1–2 green chilies, finely chopped
2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp red chili powder
½ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
Salt to taste
¾ cup to 1 cup water (adjust for batter consistency)
Oil or ghee for cooking

Step 1: Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, add besan, turmeric, chili powder, ajwain, and salt.
Gradually add water to make a lump-free, medium-thick batter (pancake consistency).
Add chopped onion, tomato, carrot, green chilies, and coriander. Mix well.
Step 2: Cook the Chilla
Heat a non-stick tawa or skillet. Grease lightly with oil.
Pour a ladleful of batter and spread gently into a circle.
Drizzle oil around the edges. Cook on medium flame until golden brown.
Flip and cook the other side until crisp and fully cooked.
Repeat for remaining batter.
