  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)




  • ¼ cup onion, finely chopped




  • ¼ cup tomato, finely chopped




  • 2 tbsp grated carrot (optional)




  • 1–2 green chilies, finely chopped




  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander, chopped




  • ½ tsp turmeric powder




  • ½ tsp red chili powder




  • ½ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)




  • Salt to taste




  • ¾ cup to 1 cup water (adjust for batter consistency)




  • Oil or ghee for cooking

Step 1: Prepare the Batter




  1. In a mixing bowl, add besan, turmeric, chili powder, ajwain, and salt.




  2. Gradually add water to make a lump-free, medium-thick batter (pancake consistency).




  3. Add chopped onion, tomato, carrot, green chilies, and coriander. Mix well.




Step 2: Cook the Chilla




  1. Heat a non-stick tawa or skillet. Grease lightly with oil.




  2. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread gently into a circle.




  3. Drizzle oil around the edges. Cook on medium flame until golden brown.




  4. Flip and cook the other side until crisp and fully cooked.




  5. Repeat for remaining batter.
